I will have to check back in Mom's book to find out whether we have any details or not.

Authentic rendition is here; I've got the sheet music, lyrics and accompaniment. My dad's version is slightly different, but pretty close to this one.

That is a pretty thistle picture. {SMILE}

I have Scottish ancestors, too. I think they're mostly from lowland Scotland, not too far from the border with England. It's hard to be more specific. Some of them preferred not to be too easily traceable due to involvement with a failed revolution against the English. {Smile}

I've heard and sung most of those songs, but I've never heard the one about the overalls and the chowder. The title sounds funny. Now I'm curious about the words and tune. {Smile}

Here is one:

If you go to http://www.redbubble.com/people/pauline-w you will find thumbnails of all her art. There should be at least two more pictures with swans. (She's got a lot of nice animal photos.)

No, I haven't gotten back to Redbebble yet. I keep meaning to, but I've been a little pre-occupied. {rueful smile}

Could you tell me where the swan chick pictures are? I would like to see those. They sound cute! {SMILE}

Thanks, Anne! Appreciate your comment! Have you gotten to look around RedBubble.com anymore since we last exchanged notes? I found a few really lovely photos of a pair of swans and their offspring. Also, a fantastic one of a white owl in full flight.

With most cooking, I don't. Dad is very possesive of his status as family cook, so the main time I have a chance to cook is lunch, since we each get our own. The main dish that seems worth the bother then is various types of eggs. So I've learned quite a bit about them, especially scrambled eggs, omlets, and fritattas. {Smile}

I think this egg-and-rice cake would fit in quite nicely. {Smile}
